Will Coldplay break the record for highest-grossing tour of all time? It’s off to a good start! Launched in March 2022, the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” has already collected $561 million in revenue from the first 99 concerts of the tour. Which already puts Coldplay in sixth place for the singing tours that brought in the most money. And it’s not over: while the European part 2023 has just ended in Amsterdam, the band will perform in North America and then in Asia until February 2024… before returning to Europe! Indeed, during his last concerts in Amsterdam, Coldplay teased a new European tour scheduled for 2024, including a visit to France. A boon since Chris Martin and his acolytes have not set foot on French soil for this last burst of concerts, and the public is waiting firmly to applaud the group again, whose four concerts at the Stade de France in July 2022 gathered 318,000 fans. A record!

Due to the Olympic Games, it is not in Paris that Coldplay will make its big comeback in France next year, but further south. Indeed, the band has just announced two event concerts at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon! After a first visit in 2017, the performers of “My Universe” will once again take over the 59,000-seat arena in Lyon on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June 2024! A presale will be available on Tuesday, July 25 at 9 a.m. on the Live Nation and Coldplay sites, and in order to access it, fans are invited to register in advance. Then, the general sale of tickets will take place on Friday July 28 at 10 a.m. in the usual points of sale. Faced with the enormous popularity of Coldplay, these two concerts are likely to sell out very quickly. For the moment, the price of the different categories is not yet known.

A nice blow for the stadium, very precisely located in Décines-Charpieu, which hosted the concerts of Muse, Depeche Mode, Mylène Farmer and the Red Hot Chili Peppers this summer. This is also where it will happen Taylor Swift on June 2 and 3 for “The Eras Tour”, his record-breaking event tour. Note that this visit to Lyon will be the only French stage of this new European leg of Coldplay, which will stop in a single city per country, in an ecological concern. In addition to Lyon, the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” will also stop in Athens, Bucharest, Budapest, Rome, Vienna or Dublin. Only Germany will be doubly spoiled with shows in both Munich and Düsseldorf. In all, these are 16 new concerts that will give Coldplay for this return to Europe.
