The Witcher 3 updates with improvements and content from the Netflix series


A patch that fixes the game but not the series

The Witcher 3 took advantage of the recent broadcast of season 3 of the Netflix series (the first part) to add content around it in the 4.04 update. Available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC and Switch, it includes bug fixes, gameplay adjustments, various changes.

Here is the complete patch note for more details :

« ON PC

  • Fixed a bug where GOG achievements for the Complete Edition were unlocked in the base version.
  • The number of frames allowed by the “Max frames per second” setting will now be counted correctly when DLSS frame generation is enabled.
  • Fixed some cases where character hair could appear too shiny when ray tracing was enabled.
  • Bald Mountain: Fixed a crash issue that occurred when ray tracing was enabled and all other ray tracing options were disabled.
  • Whiteflower’s Beast: Fixed a bug that could cause the game to freeze if you loaded the save of a certain checkpoint while ray tracing was enabled.
  • Fixed a bug where the game would launch without REDlauncher and open a browser tab asking for permission to “Use Cyberpunk 2077 with your Epic Games account”.
  • Fixed a bug where gamepad controls could continue to work while the game was paused.
  • Fixed a bug where a second highly responsive cursor would appear in the main menu when “Hardware Cursor” was set to “Disabled”.

ON CONSOLES

  • Fixed a bug that caused certain hairstyles from the “Beards and Hairstyles Set” DLC to appear through the Nilfgaardian Helmet on older-gen consoles.
  • Fixed a texture flickering bug that occurred when playing gwent on next-gen consoles.
  • The Tower of Mice: Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented the conversation with Keira from being triggered after the pesta fight on older consoles.
  • Cabaret: fixed graphical bugs with the Jaskier model before and during the staged fight on older consoles.
  • The Last Wish and Wandering in the Dark: Fixed an issue where the game would crash during these quests on PlayStation 5.
  • Improved stability during or after loading a save after a long session in ray tracing mode.
  • Fixed a bug on Xbox Series X where the cross-progress setting was not updating the cloud saves status UI correctly.

Changes specific to PC and next-gen consoles

GRAPHICS

  • Fixed a bug that could cause mist to look 2D in some places.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the reflection of the sky on the water to partially disappear at specific locations in Blanchefleur, Velen, and Toussaint when ray tracing was enabled.
  • Grass collision now works correctly.
  • Added HDR calibration option.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the mountains of Kaer Morhen to disappear if you changed the camera angle while Geralt was underwater.
  • Quest for the Little Bastard: Removed an unnecessary body of water from the Oxenfurt sewers.
  • Fixed a bug causing stutter on the loading screen when ray tracing was enabled.

QUESTS AND GAMEPLAY

  • Added an option to change potions and apply oils from the circular menu.
  • Fixed a bug that quickly reduced Geralt’s vitality underwater.
  • The Final Test: Fixed a bug where Lambert could stay in the water instead of sitting in the boat if you left the area and then re-entered it, blocking progress.

VARIOUS

  • Fixed issues loading savegames when using the cross-progress feature on multiple machines with the same GOG account.

Online Features — Nintendo Switch

Added cross-platform progression functionality, which replaces the previous save file integration added with the 3.6 update for the Nintendo Switch. Your latest saves will automatically be saved to the cloud so you can resume your game on other platforms. Cross-progress provides the latest save of each type. This feature becomes available once you are logged into your account. Note that it requires a GOG account on all platforms.

By registering for MY REWARDS in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, players can receive:

  • Nine-Tailed Vixen Swords
  • Western White Tiger Armor
  • Dol Blathanna Armor
  • Roast map

Additional Content—Nintendo Switch

  • Added a new side quest, titled In the Shadow of Eternal Fire, to Velen. Its rewards are inspired by The Witcher series on Neftlix.
  • Added an alternate appearance for Dandelion inspired by The Witcher series on Neftlix. You can find it in Downloadable Content → Options.
  • Added alternate Nilfgaardian armor inspired by The Witcher series to Neftlix. You can find it in Downloadable Content → Options.
  • Added Chinese and Korean voiceovers. Availability varies by region and game version.

Practical Changes — Nintendo Switch

  • Added an option called “Quick Sign Throw”, which allows you to switch signs and throw them without opening the circular menu. You will find this option in Options → Game.
  • Adjusted the minimum height causing fall damage to allow players to survive larger falls.
  • Now herbs can be picked instantly with a single interaction no longer causing the extra loot window to appear.
  • Added options to dynamically hide the minimap and quest objectives when not in combat or using your Witcher Senses. You’ll find them in Options → Video → HUD Settings → Hide Minimap While Exploring and Hide Objectives While Exploring.
  • Added an option to walk slowly when playing with a controller. You can now walk slowly by moving the left stick slightly forward.
  • Added an alternate sprint mode option when playing with a controller. This mode is activated by pressing the left stick. You can find this option in Options → Command Settings.
  • Added an option so that inverting the camera does not affect target lock. You’ll find it in Options → Command Settings.
  • Improved the circular menu to allow you to dynamically change bombs, bolts and items in your pockets without opening the inventory.
  • Added option to change font size for subtitles and choices in dialogs. You will find it in Options → Video → HUD configuration.
  • Added other minor fixes, tweaks, and handy changes, including a few secrets for players to uncover.
  • Added an option to change potions and apply oils from the circular menu.
  • Added an option to automatically apply oil in combat.
  • Added a new default map filter. This new filter hides certain icons, such as “?” and boat icons, to declutter the map. You can reactivate these icons by activating the “All” filter.

Game—Nintendo Switch

  • Added Full Combat Rebalance 3 mod from Flash_in_the_flesh, which includes balance changes and various gameplay fixes. We took a selective approach with this mod. Some items have been adjusted from what you’ll find in the default mod, while other items have been omitted.
  • Treasure Hunt: School of the Wolf Equipment: Fixed a bug that prevented opening the chest in the Signal Tower.
  • Distant Shores of Ophir: Fixed a bug where the blueprint could be missing from the chest of the bandit hideout.
  • Wrong Place, Wrong Time: Fixed a bug that could prevent Geralt from talking to the blacksmith or giving him the letter.
  • Echoes of the Past: Fixed a bug that could block the quest and prevent you from talking to Yennefer after defeating the foglings.
  • The Wine Wars: Fixed a bug that prevented you from completing the quest if you destroyed one of the required monster nests during exploration.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed Grandmaster Wolf School armor to be crafted without masterwork items.
  • Various minor fixes have been made to quests and cinematics. »

We recall that part 2 of the Netflix series The Witcher will begin on July 27, marking the end of Henry Cavill in the main role.
